INFRARED SAUNA USE AGREEMENT, WAIVER, AND RELEASE OF LIABILITY

THE SAUNA ROOM
9635 W Colfax Ave, Suite 304, Lakewood, CO

The use of infrared saunas may have many health benefits. However, it is important that you fully understand how to use the sauna and gradually introduce your body to the sauna to produce the best results and prevent undesired reactions. In all situations, hydration is a requirement for sauna use. Drinking filtered water or advanced electrolyte replacement water is recommended before and after sauna use. Persons with certain medical conditions should not use an infrared sauna. Therefore, it is recommended that you consult with your physician prior to using the infrared sauna. It is solely your responsibility to be aware of and monitor your body and reactions to determine if it is appropriate for you to use the infrared sauna.

IN THE EVENT THAT YOU EXPERIENCE DIZZINESS, PAIN, OR DISCOMFORT,
IMMEDIATELY DISCONTINUE USE OF THE SAUNA.

Terms and Conditions of Use:

1. Smokers are not permitted in the sauna. The wood surface absorbs tobacco odor released from the pores of the body, which will cause damage to the sauna and may cause allergic reactions in other guests using the sauna.

2. The use of drugs, non-prescription medication, or alcohol prior to or during the sauna session may lead to dizziness or unconsciousness and is not permitted.

3. Consult your physician if you are in doubt about your ability to use the infrared sauna for health reasons. Any disclosed severe medical conditions will require a note of authorization from your physician prior to the use of the sauna.

4. No persons under the age of 18 are permitted in the sauna unless accompanied by a supervising adult.

5. Discontinue the use of the sauna if you feel light-headed, dizzy, heat exhausted, or experience any discomfort.

6. Sauna sessions should be limited to a maximum of 45 minutes and temperatures must stay below 140° F.

7. Drink plenty of water before and after a sauna session. Pre-session hydration with at least 8 ounces is advised to prepare your body for an increase in core temperature. Post-session hydration with at least 24 ounces of water is advised.

8. It is advised not to eat at least one to two hours prior to your sauna session to avoid any undesired reactions.

9. Guests taking any medications must consult a physician or pharmacist prior to the use of the sauna.

10. Pregnant women should consult their physician prior to the use of the sauna. Excessive body temperatures have the potential to cause fetal damage in early stages of pregnancy. Any disclosed pregnancy will require a note of authorization from your physician prior to the use of the sauna.

11. Do not use any chemical substances or lotions prior to or during your sauna session. These items may block pores and negatively affect perspiration, as well as stain the wood of the sauna.

12. Keep all liquids away from the heating panels and electronic components of the sauna.

13. Do not touch the heaters or electrical components directly. They will be hot and may cause injury.

14. Never cover the holes or floor grates of the sauna with towels, mats, garments or any other obstruction.

Contraindications:
Any of the below described contraindications will require you to use your discretion for your own well-being. BE ADVISED that if you experience any pain or mental or physical discomfort at any time during the process, you must terminate the session immediately upon your own volition.

Medications – Diuretics, barbiturates, and beta-blockers may impair the body’s natural heat loss mechanisms. Anticholinergics such as amitriptyline may inhibit sweating and can predispose individuals to heat rash or heat stroke. Some over-the-counter drugs, such as antihistamines, may also cause the body to be more prone to heat stroke.

Pregnancy/Breastfeeding – Pregnant women should consult a physician before using an infrared sauna. A physician’s letter of authorization will be required if pregnancy is disclosed or is apparent. If breastfeeding, do not use the infrared sauna. The detoxification process will produce expelled toxins in breast milk.

Menstruation – Heating of a lower back during a menstrual period may temporarily increase menstrual flow.

Elderly – The body must be able to activate its natural cooling processes in order to maintain core body temperature. As we mature, our bodies naturally lose this capability. Guests over the age of 70 will be permitted to use the infrared sauna at a lower temperature.

Children ages 12-17 – The core body temperature of children rises much faster than adults. This occurs due to a higher metabolic rate per body mass, limited circulatory adaptation to increased cardiac demands, and the inability to regulate body temperature by sweating. Consult your child’s pediatrician before permitting your child to use the sauna. Children under the age of 12
are not permitted to use the infrared sauna. Anyone between the ages of 12 and 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Cardiovascular Conditions – Individuals with cardiovascular conditions, such as hypertension or hypotension, congestive heart failure, impaired coronary circulation, or those who are taking medications which might affect blood pressure should exercise caution when exposed to prolonged heat. Heat stress increases cardiac output and blood flow in an effort to transfer internal body heat to the outside environment via the skin (perspiration) and respiratory system. This takes place primarily due to major changes in the heart rate, which has the potential to increase by thirty (30) beats per minute for each degree increase in core body temperatures.

Alcohol/Alcohol Abuse – Contrary to popular belief, it is not advisable to attempt to “sweat out” a hangover. Alcohol intoxication decreases a person’s judgement. Therefore, a person may not realize when the body has a negative reaction to high heat. Alcohol also increases the heart rate, which may be further increased by heat stress. Guests who appear intoxicated or disclose alcohol
consumption prior to use of the sauna will forfeit their scheduled appointment, and no refund or credit will be issued.

Chronic Conditions/Diseases Associated with Reduced Ability to Sweat or Perspire – Multiple Sclerosis, Central Nervous System Tumors, and Diabetes with Neuropathy are conditions that are associated with impaired sweating.

Hemophiliacs/Individuals Prone to Bleeding – The use of infrared saunas should be avoided by anyone who is predisposed to bleeding.

Fever – An individual who has a fever should not use an infrared sauna until the fever subsides.

Insensitivity to Heat – An individual with insensitivity to heat should not use an infrared sauna.

Joint Injury – If you have a recent (acute) joint injury, it should not be heated for the first 48 hours after an injury or until symptoms of swelling subside. If you have a joint or joints that are chronically hot and swollen, these joints may respond poorly to vigorous heating of any kind.

Implants – Metal pins, rods, artificial joints, or any other surgical implants generally reflect infrared waves and, thus, are not heated by this system. Nevertheless, you should consult your physician prior to using an infrared sauna.

Pacemakers/Defibrillators – The magnets used to assemble infrared saunas can interrupt the pacing and inhibit the output of pacemakers. Consult your physician about the possible risks this may cause.

You alone are responsible for your safety and well-being.

Terms & Conditions - the basics

Having said that, Terms and Conditions (“T&C”) are a set of legally binding terms defined by you, as the owner of this website. The T&C set forth the legal boundaries governing the activities of the website visitors, or your customers, while they visit or engage with this website. The T&C are meant to establish the legal relationship between the site visitors and you as the website owner.

T&C should be defined according to the specific needs and nature of each website. For example, a website offering products to customers in e-commerce transactions requires T&C that are different from the T&C of a website only providing information (like a blog, a landing page, and so on).

T&C provide you as the website owner the ability to protect yourself from potential legal exposure, but this may differ from jurisdiction to jurisdiction, so make sure to receive local legal advice if you are trying to protect yourself from legal exposure.

What to include in the T&C document

Generally speaking, T&C often address these types of issues: Who is allowed to use the website; the possible payment methods; a declaration that the website owner may change his or her offering in the future; the types of warranties the website owner gives his or her customers; a reference to issues of intellectual property or copyrights, where relevant; the website owner’s right to suspend or cancel a member’s account; and much, much more.
